Design Trends 2019

Thinking of refurbing your home but unsure how to make the space modern and homely?

Not to worry, our interior design team have got it covered!

In this article, we discuss the design and colour trends for 2019, and how our tailored interior design service can help transform your renovation with this years key pieces.

Spiced Honey

Dulux recently announced their colour of the year as ‘Spiced Honey’.

A warm amber shade, spiced honey has been chosen ‘to reflect a new mood of positivity and optimism – a desire to 'let the light in’’*

This rich caramel is a great way to modernise a room, with versatility to work as a stand alone shade or as a complimentary tone against a teal or pastel.

This shade would fit perfectly in a loft conversion or a living room to bring a cosy element.

Woodland Trends

Botanical's were a big deal in 2018, but the trend has shifted to a woodland vibe for 2019.

The oversized emerald-green leaves on botanical wallpaper, as well as real life plants dotted around the house, has now been replaced by more subtle fern and mushroom tones, with woodland animals appearing on fabrics such as duvets, throws and cushions alike.

Our recent barn conversion is a great example of use of this trend, which complements the timber frame structure perfectly.

Velvet furniture

Yes, really! But not the old fusty kind of material of years gone by.

This fabric can turn a standard bedroom into a luxe, decadent space, with velvet headboards being a staple trend.

Accessories such as cushions and throws in jeweled hues can offer an instant update and crushed velvet sets the vintage tone perfectly.

Not just confined to the bedroom, velvet furniture is versatile enough to be used in any room in the house. From sofas to dining chairs, the fabric brings a luxe feel to any space.

Our interior designers will be able to discuss the best use of velvet among other textures in your living space during the initial design period. Check out our modernisation of a 1980’S home for some texture tips.
