Project Story

When these customers bought their Victorian terraced house in East London, they knew they had a big project on their hands.

Though they loved its antiquated style, the couple recognised straightaway that their home was crying out for a revamp. The rear half of the house was in very poor condition so to make the most of their home’s potential, the couple were looking to build something completely fresh and contemporary.

As keen chefs and with a love for entertaining, it was essential to incorporate a functional, chic-looking kitchen/dining space into the downstairs area of their home. Also on the wish list was an additional bedroom and bathroom, and all with a strong personality that reflected their own.

With their first design produced, these customers looked to secure planning approval from their local authority. However, their initial planning application and subsequent appeals were rejected.

After 15 months of rejections, and realising they needed help, they decided to enlist the expertise and knowledge of Architect Your Home. Their architect developed their initial ideas into a comprehensive scheme that fitted all their design expectations. He then went on to produce plans, sections, and elevations, and along with all the other information required by the council, he made sure their application finally got that long-awaited approval.

Their architect introduced them to the idea of utilising unusual materials to achieve a neutral, stylish look so that together they were able to secure the design and ultimately the home, these customers had been dreaming about.
