The main issue people have when they are undertaking a basement extension is ensuring that there is enough light filtering down into the basement spaces.

With this basement extension design, the architect took the bold decision to remove the floor at the front of the ground floor and create a double-height space, allowing the light from the large ground floor window to flood down onto the living spaces below. This also enabled a vital connection between the floors making the spaces personal and individual while at the same time allowing them to flow seamlessly into one other.
