Extraordinary roof to rear kitchen extension in Forest Hill
These customers wanted a rear extension with a difference.
This Victorian terraced house had very simple decoration and had not been updated for years. The customer's wanted to extend into two outhouses (one of which was the original toilet) to create a wraparound single-storey kitchen extension and also include some internal alterations to form a ground floor bathroom.
The client had ambitions to do something different to the usual box extension design, and had a desire to play with form and light . Our architect used cardboard models to develop a variety of options for getting improved and interesting light and shadow into the extension and main living areas eventually agreeing upon this sculptured roof shape.
