With the customer being a chef, they wanted a kitchen that was first and foremost functional but she also wanted it to be an inspirational and aesthetically exciting space to work in.
Since the space available was not extensive, the drama and excitement requested in the customer’s brief were cleverly created by designing an angled roof with triangulated roof lights. The primary requirements were for increased living space, storage and light, all of which were achieved with the final result. There was an added bonus of the space feeling much larger than had been anticipated, due to the masses of light let in by the inventive design of the roof. The feature brick wall was constructed entirely using bricks from the old structure and the old kitchen and appliances were sold on eBay.
