The key to this kitchen extension was simplicity. The customer wanted everything to be as open and minimalist as possible but still have some personality.
The architect-designed the timber staircase to become a prominent feature that drew you up through the house and the clever pocket door at the bottom allowed the space to flow from the front door down the extra wide timber steps into the new kitchen extension and out into the garden beyond. This simple solution enabled the customer to have the open plan aspect to their home they desired and still made sure it fully complied with building regulations.
Additional light was bought into the back half of the kitchen through a slot roof window bringing with it an element of interest and drama.
