The key to the success of any renovation or extension project is making it fit and needs and aspirations of the customer.
Here the customer wanted a light, spacious multi-functional room with plenty of natural light and space. The architect’s answer to these criteria was to design a pitched roof over the extension. This not only gave them a dramatic, elevated area over the centre of the room but the opportunity to include a long run of high-level roof lights to provide high-quality light into the whole depth of the space.
A bank of storage was created along one wall of the extension with a small home office cleverly included in the last cupboard and some soft seating provided a relaxed area to enjoy views of the garden.
In the main living room, this feeling of light and space was continued by removing the wall between the front and rear rooms to provide a spacious, more formal living area.
A new oak staircase leads you up into the converted loft to a tranquil bedroom and timelessly designed en-suite shower room.
