Rear extension and garage conversion

Project Story

The customer’s brief was to design a double-storey extension and garage conversion to give them a large family kitchen plus utility room and downstairs toilet, study and 2 new bedrooms and an additional family bathroom.

Here, the existing garage was converted into a study, and a two-storey extension was built at the rear of the property that extended over the old single-storey garage to create enough space upstairs for a bedroom for each of the children and a spacious family bathroom.

The corner of the house was replaced with a slender steel column allowing the unusually tall folding/sliding doors to open back to both the garden and patio. For the additional ‘wow’ factor, an oversized walnut kitchen centre unit was included to make this conversion stand apart from the ordinary.
