Side return kitchen extension in Wandsworth

Project Story

This home suffered from an existing layout that was cramped and badly organised. The customer wanted to open it all up to design an exciting open plan kitchen/dining area that opened up into the courtyard garden.

One specific requirement was for her kitchen/family room to have a real sense of space, so by removing all the walls and supporting the rooms above with just a single column the architect was able to produce an unimpeded flow into the garden. This also helped give the extension a broken plan feel so whilst the spaces flowed into one another they also had an identity of their own.

“The most important thing for me was to create a warm happy space where I could feel relaxed and enjoy time with my family and friends. This was perfect for me and something I could never have achieved on my own. “
